Slam Poetry
This mini-unit looks at the concept of performance poetry, by investigating slam poetry and guiding students through what draws an audience’s interest. It scaffolds students through a range of poetic devices such as rhythm, alliteration, assonance, consonance, and emotive language, before asking them to create and perform their own slam poetry in a formal class competition.
